According to a claim in the Turkish media, Southampton goalkeeper Mateuzs Lis isn’t keen on a return to the Premier League side.

The 27-year-old was loaned out to Goztepe last season, helping the Izmir club secure promotion to the Super Lig.

Haber Ekspres have reported on the latest developments regarding the future of Lis and they say he wants to remain at Goztepe.

Southampton and the Turkish side are both owned by the Sports Republic group which led to the player being loaned there in the first place.

It’s claimed there is uncertainty over Lis’ future as Southampton have had offers for the goalkeeper. Subsequently, the Pole hasn’t been able to push for another loan move to Turkey.

Lis reportedly travelled to Izmir over the weekend to speak with the coaches at Goztepe. It’s claimed he told them he wants to remain with the club for at least another season.

He made 31 appearances for Goztepe last season, and clearly feels he has a future there.

Lis joined Southampton on a five-year deal in 2022, moving on a free transfer.
