Lille star Sven Botman is ‘not fully convinced’ about a move to Newcastle United, despite the Magpies reaching an agreement with the French side.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the defender is ‘stalling’ over a move to St James Park for the time being.
Botman is seemingly among Newcastle’s top targets this summer, with Eddie Howe continuing the rebuild he started in January.
They went after the player that month and the Magpies pushed hard to get a deal over the line but couldn’t find an agreement with Lille at the time.
They’ve remained keen on him, though, with several reports over the last few weeks making it clear Newcastle were trying to get him once again.
Indeed, a report today made it clear that Lille would prefer to sell to Newcastle, and that was later followed up by claims that their offer for him had been accepted.
It seems Botman isn’t that keen, though, with TMW stating the player is ‘not fully convinced’ about the move to the North East.
That is why he is ‘taking his time’ on the offer, presumably waiting to see if he receives any better offers that he finds more appealing.
We’re sure that’s not something Newcastle will want to hear, with them needing to put extra work in on Botman and his agent if they are to get this deal over the line.
