Sporting’s wish to sign Pedro Porro on a permanent deal is once again highlighted by Portuguese newspaper Record today.
Even though the fullback’s loan from Manchester City only expires in 2022, the Lisbon side are expected to evaluate his purchase in the summer.
The Lions have an option to buy the player for €8.5m, and it’s his good performances for the club which have been making them think of triggering the clause long before the deadline.
Record says the possibility pleases Porro, who’s happy at Sporting and believes manager Ruben Amorin has been doing a great job working on his potential.
The newspaper goes further by saying that going back to Manchester City doesn’t cross Porro’s mind, as with the Lions, he works to continue playing for Spain’s U21 squad and ‘looks with hope’ to his country’s first team.
It’s claimed that following Sporting’s decision on his future, his agent Antonio Plata should be in Lisbon over the summer to negotiate the details of a future contract.
Porro was recently awarded by Liga NOS as the league’s best defender for three months in a row, and his success in Portugal has even been highlighted by the Spanish media.
Signed by Manchester City in a €12m move from Girona in 2019, the fullback first had a loan spell at Real Valladolid and was then sent to Sporting last summer.
He’s never featured for the Premier League side.
