Following reports this week saying Manchester United are willing to spend €15m on the signing of Real Madrid’s Lucas Vázquez, the Spanish media have been quick to discourage the rumours.
Website Defensa Central brings a story claiming that Vázquez has no intention of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, even though his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old is said to be keen on signing a new deal with Real Madrid in the coming weeks, according to people close to him.
The Spaniard, who was originally a winger, has been adapting to the right-back position, and is reportedly seen by Manchester United as an alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, just like he’s been for Dani Carvajal in Madrid.
It wouldn’t be unlikely for a home-grown Real Madrid player to wish to stay at the club over joining even Manchester United.
Still, we must always be careful with reports from Defensa Central, since they’re a website which always tends to favour the Galacticos in all stories they have, especially when it comes to transfer rumours.
