Andreas Christensen has ‘no intention’ of renewing his contract at Chelsea and is instead ‘close’ to signing a deal with Barcelona.
That’s according to Sport, who say talks with the Dane have been ‘going on for weeks’, and an agreement is expected to be reached soon.
They state that the Chelsea defender is another of the names that are ‘close to being finalised’ for next season.
His contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, and he ‘has no intention’ of signing a new deal, despite the Blues pushing to try and make it happen.
He and his entourage have been in talks with Barcelona for weeks, and while he is not free to negotiate anything until January 1st, the Catalan giants are in ‘pole position’ right now.
Just as they have done with fellow Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, with whom Barcelona reportedly have a pre-agreement in place, they want to apply that same formula to get Christensen and reach an agreement soon.
The pair are considered as ‘unique market opportunities’ that Joan Laporta doesn’t want to let slip away, even more so given their delicate economic situation.
That is why they are pushing, and Christensen’s intention to not sign a new deal gives them every hope of getting him.
