Despite a rather disappointing spell on loan from Inter at Newcastle United where he started just four Premier League games, Valentino Lazaro could be returning to St James’ Park next season.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain the Austrian is ‘negotiating to return’ to the English side ahead of the coming campaign.
Despite the fact he has ‘some admirers in Germany’, Newcastle ‘consider taking him back, this time for good’, meaning this will be a permanent transfer rather than another loan.
There are no other details regarding these talks, but considering the 25-year-old wasn’t in Antonio Conte’s plans and doesn’t appear to be in Simone Inzaghi’s, the fee asked for an exit might not be too excessive.
Despite pay £20m for Lazaro back in 2019, Inter have only used him 11 times, during which he assisted his teammates twice.
The Austrian was then loaned to Newcastle six months later, where he made 15 appearances under Steve Bruce and scored two goals.
