Adnan Januzaj appears to have given up on his desire to join Everton, with a move to Sevilla now on the cards.
AS explain that the Belgian, who remains a free agent after leaving Real Sociedad at the end of last season, is being targeted by the Spanish side as a replacement for Lucas Ocampos.
The Argentine is on his way to Ajax, himself a replacement for Antony who is going to Manchester United, and did not train with the rest of the squad on Tuesday.
Sevilla are closing the deal to take him to Amsterdam, with the player’s representatives currently meeting the club to finalise his departure.
The one chosen to replace him is Januzaj, who has been waiting patiently for a club who can offer him Champions League football and has now found it.
That contrasts directly with what has been reported in the last few days and weeks, when it has been made clear he would like to return to England and has been linked with Everton.
Indeed, just yesterday it was stated that he was ‘still waiting’ for Everton to make their move and take him to Goodison Park. They certainly couldn’t offer him Champions League football.
It seems he has now quickly given up on that desire and will instead be joining Sevilla, once they have shipped Ocampos to Ajax.
