On March 11th, we carried a report from AS, who explained that Ander Iturraspe of Athletic Bilbao could be heading towards Leeds United in the summer.
Two days later, El Gol Digital reported that opportunity to join the Championship side will be great for a player ‘without a doubt’, having previously played under Marcelo Bielsa when the at Bilbao.
In today’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS, the 30-year-old gets a mention and claims he could be heading towards a move to Elland Road in the summer.
AS talks about Athletic’s transfer plans, the players that need to be retained and sold and explains that a decision on the club’s next project will be taken after their manager Gaizka Garitano signs a new contract at the club.
Iturraspe’s current deal with the La Liga outfit expires at the end of the season and the report claims he is one of the players who will not continue at the club beyond this season.
He’s already aware of the situation.
Looks like the Basque club have no plans to hand him a new deal, meaning he can join Leeds or any other club on a free transfer in the next window.
AS, in their national edition, say the player ‘could enrol at Leeds’ in the summer, whilst their Basque edition also mentions the Yorkshire club but doesn’t rule out a move to a current Premier League club.
