Ajax forward Antony missed training with the Dutch giants today amid a bid from Manchester United.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, who say Ajax rejected an €80m bid from Manchester United this week.
They’ve been linked with the Brazilian all summer without making a move but after defeats to Brighton and Brentford have made their effort.
Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen the squad and the addition of Antony would do just that, but Ajax are reluctant to sell him after another summer of their star players departing.
They reportedly now want €100m plus for their star man but Manchester United are yet to go that high, with De Telegraaf saying an €80m bid was rejected.
That coincided with Antony missing training, something that will only further the rumours of a possible move to Old Trafford.
The newspaper states that while the player was at De Toekomst, several sources have confirmed he skipped training. Ajax are refusing to comment on why, so it is unclear if it was due to an injury or an impending transfer.
Manchester United appear to have moved through the gears this week as their transfer window sprung to life. Having chased Frenkie de Jong for much of the summer window, they moved on to Adrien Rabiot, only to see a deal for the Juventus player also collapse.
With a cloud of misery casting a shadow over the club, the Red Devils then moved for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
The Brazilian was keen on the new adventure offered to him and told Los Blancos of his desire, with a move to Old Trafford now closing in. The offer for Antony, and the player potentially agitating for a move, looks like the next drama.
