Over the weekend there were all sorts of claims that Marc Guiu is on his way to Chelsea, another name in the ever growing list of youngsters the club are buying up.
The gist was that the Blues would take advantage of a €6m buyout clause in the 18-year-old’s contract, and that would be that.
Barcelona wouldn’t be able to compete on wages, and Guiu would be out the door and off for a new adventure in England.
Mundo Deportivo roll that back a bit and insist things are not so certain, and that if Guiu does leave Barcelona it may not be for Chelsea.
The Catalan newspaper report that Guiu is very tempted by the Premier League club, and not just because they’re offering him more money. It’s claimed he’s been promised a prominent role in the first team should he move to Chelsea, which is a factor in his thinking.
RB Leipzig are also interested, and so become another consideration.
Mundo Deportivo that whilst Guiu likes the Chelsea idea, he isn’t convinced about leaving Barcelona. His dream has been to succeed in the Blaugrana shirt and giving all that up is a big decision to make.
He’s set to ‘meet with his family’ to take advice and work out his next step forward.
Do not be shocked if this all ends with a renewal, with Guiu praised for resisting the big bad boys from the Premier League, and president Joan Laporta praised for securing the youngster.
