On Janaury 18th, we relayed news from Spain that Manchester United are taking possibility of signing Eder Militao ‘very seriously’, while Real Madrid are also interested in the FC Porto defender.
Monday’s edition of AS once again mentions about the interest from the Champions League winners, while also claims the Brazilian has been on the agenda of the Red Devils, along with their league rivals Liverpool and Chelsea.
It’s now thought to be unlikely the 21-year-old will move to Old Trafford or England at all because Los Blancos have won the race for his signature after they reached an agreement with him.
The centre-back has a release clause of €50m in his contract (for the summer) and the 13-time European champions are ready to pay this.
Porto are aware of Real Madrid’s intentions, but they have not received an official communication so far from the Spanish club.
It’s clear that Militao will not leave Porto in January and will move to Santiago Bernabéu only at the end of the season, when it’s reported he’ll sign a six-year deal with the La Liga giants.
If Manchester United have decided to give up on signing Militao, they may have other targets in mind for the next season with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly reportedly leading the list.
