Since it’s no secret Fluminense would like to soon have Thiago Silva back at the club, they’re always keeping an eye on the defender’s situation at Chelsea.
So as Netflu now bring an update on the Tricolor’s chances of signing the 38-year-old, they share a couple of things they’re recently learned about this case.
The first is that before joining Chelsea, Thiago Silva was approached by Flamengo, and because of his love for Fluminense, he rejected their Rio de Janeiro rivals.
The second is more interesting since it’s about the player’s future. It’s claimed that when speaking to friends who are related to the Tricolor, the defender made it ‘very clear’, ‘many times’, that he’s happy at the Blues, and it’d be ‘no surprise’ if he stays in London for one more year.
Thiago Silva’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season, and that means he’ll need to sign a new deal with the Blues. His wish to stay at the Premier League side is why Fluminense would not be surprised to be turned down by him next summer.
