Lucas Paqueta is living a ‘hell’ at West Ham United, with the team’s bad performances, his own poor form and the lingering case against him put forward by the FA all contributing to his misery.
That’s according to Rafael Reis’ blog for UOL, which details Paqueta’s ‘hell’ at West Ham at this moment in time.
They explain that the midfielder has not been the part of a winning team in four months, with West Ham last picking up a victory with him on the field on January 14th.
Since then, the Brazilian has played eight games for the Hammers and the best he has managed is three draws. He’s lost all the other five.
West Ham have only won three games since the turn of the year, all in the Premier League, and Paqueta was out with an ankle injury in two of them.
He is in the midst of ‘one of the worst sequences of results of his career’, with the Hammers 17th in the table but comfortable in terms of the relegation battle.
Paqueta’s football has also ‘plummeted.’ He has five goals but is yet to provide an assist all season. That drop in performance has seen him removed from the Brazil squad, where he was a starter for most of their games after the 2022 World Cup.
This is all going on while off the pitch his trial for alleged betting offences has been delayed due to the ‘complexity of the case’. The expectation is that it will be resumed in June, with the FA calling for him to be handed a lifetime suspension.
Paqueta has always denied the accusations and cooperated with the investigation, but it continues to hang over him and contributes greatly to the ‘hell’ he currently finds himself in at West Ham.
