William Carvalho is missing the chance to say goodbye to Sporting’s supporters on Sunday. Sporting welcome Chaves to the Estádio José Alvalade this evening, but Carvalho will be missing.
Naturally, for a defensive midfielder, the Euro 2016 winner has picked up a chunk of yellow cards and he’ll have to sit the last match out with suspension. The 25 year old will therefore, explain O Jogo, miss out on his farewell.
O Jogo believe this is the summer Carvalho leaves Sporting, and it’s ‘most likely’ he’ll be on his way to the Premier League. Everton and West Brom are the teams said to be tussling for the player, who Sporting will push for over €30m for.
Ronaldo Koeman doesn’t have a big need for a defensive midfielder so West Brom could look the likelier scenario, even if, with all due respect to the Baggies, it may have been thought Carvalho would aim higher.
Tony Pulis has recently spoken about his interest in Carvalho, which encouraged the Portuguese reports of West Brom interest, and that route is easier to fathom, right now, than Everton.
