According to Fanatik, Daniel Sturridge is dreaming of a Champions League return with Trabzonspor next season which is likely to rule out a move to Aston Villa this summer.

Yesterday we covered reports from Tukey that the former England international was still a target for the Premier League side after he was linked with a move to Villa Park last month.

Fanatik say Aston Villa made a move to sign Sturridge in the January transfer window, but the former England international rejected the proposal.

Trabzonspor are well on course to make Sturridge’s Champions League dream happen, with his side currently one point behind league leaders Medipol Basaksehir, with a game in hand.

However, the forward has yet to establish himself as a regular starter for the Super Lig side and may still have a decision to make over his career at the end of the season.

Sturridge’s contract with Karadeniz Firtinasi will expire at the end of next season but there’s an option to extend it for a further year.
