When it was announced that Tiemoué Bakayoko would be returning to Milan on loan, this time for two years, there was real hope from Chelsea’s end that they had seen the back of him for good.
After all, the midfielder’s time at Stamford Bridge has been anything but a success, with him spending just the one season with the Blues under Antonio Conte before heading out on various loans to the aforementioned Serie A side (twice), AS Monaco and Napoli.
The two-year deal taking him back to San Siro, which included an obligation to buy if certain terms were met, was meant to be the end of his Chelsea spell, but that might no longer be the case if Gazzetta dello Sport are to be believed.
The Italian newspaper explain that regardless of whether Milan get taken over this summer, ‘there should be no more room for Bakayoko’.
One of the reasons for this is the fact Stefano Pioli doesn’t appear to be the biggest fan, as shown by the fact the France international hasn’t set foot on a football pitch for the Serie A side since January 17th in a 2-1 loss to Spezia.
That’s why ‘despite the two-year loan from Chelsea, he is likely to return to London this summer’, although we’ll have to see what needs to be done to pull that off.
Breaking such deals isn’t always as straightforward as it seems, and there might be some compensation needed to get it done.
