Bringing back Kenedy from his loan in Brazil to try and help with the left-back position following Ben Chilwell’s injury, Chelsea have the depth they wanted.
It might not have been the player they wanted to use in the current situation, but their attempts to convince Lyon to cut the Emerson Palmieri deal short were turned away by the French club, leaving them little option but to settle on the Brazilian.
That should have been the end of that, except that RMC Sport are reporting on Monday afternoon that the Italy international now ‘would like to return to Chelsea’.
That’s because the player has made it clear he wouldn’t mind moving back to Stamford Bridge, although that doesn’t entirely lie with him, because, until now, Lyon ‘had been unequivocal and refused the Blues’ demands’.
Whether the left-back’s desire will be taken into account remains to be seen, but if he does eventually get his way and ends up back at Chelsea, Kenedy might not be too happy about it all, as he would immediately be third down the pecking order.
One to keep an eye on.
