There have been a wave of departures from Newcastle United this summer, and they aren’t ending any time soon.

Rafa Benitez has gone, Salomon Rondon has returned to West Brom, and Ayoze Perez is on his way to Leicester City.

Joselu looks like joining the pair in departing the North East, and it seems he’s on his way back to Spain.

Marca report that Alaves have already reached an agreement with Newcastle for the striker, although they don’t cite a fee at this point.

They also say that an agreement with Joselu was reached ‘days ago’ and everything is in place for the move to be completed sooner rather than later. In fact, all that remains is for Alaves to make the move official.

That’s likely to happen relatively quickly, with the club working hard to get all of their signings done and at manager Asier Garitano’s disposal for the first day of pre-season training on July 8th.

Newcastle will certainly be happy to see Joselu depart, given his time at the club has not been a successful one.

With seven goals and two assists in 52 appearances, his exit will not be as sorely felt as those of either Rondon or Perez, although his exit alongside those two does leave the club with a huge hole to fill ahead of next season.
