Jeremie Bela is free to sign a contract for Birmingham City, according to reports from Spain this Wednesday.

The winger had been working on his departure from his former club Albacete, and after finding an agrement, he should be joining the Championship side on a free move, Marca says.

It’s reported that Bela’s contract with the Spanish club expired in the summer. But there was a clause in the contract saying the deal would be automatically extended in case he reached a certain number of appearances in the last season, which he did.

That’s why Albacete thought he was staying. But his representatives claimed there should be a mutual agreement for this, and Bela was against the extension.

After a few months of a legal dispute, the player ended up paying for his termination, with Albacete promising they wouldn’t pursue further actions against the player.

Now despite having missed a few months of the season, he’s a free agent, and according to Marca, he’s ready to join ‘the historical’ Birmingham City.
