It’s no secret that Manchester City midfielder Ikay Gundogan is a target for Barcelona this summer window.

With reports last month showing the player’s agent had been meeting the La Liga giants, it even sounded like the move to Camp Nou was close to happening.

However, as Marca today writes about the situation, they say there’s still a long way for Barcelona to get that signing done.

The Spanish newspaper reports that Gundogan should leave Manchester City this summer, since there is ‘no intention’ of signing a new deal with Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, the agreement with Barcelona is ‘not close’. Because even though the Catalan side are willing to make an economic effort, Gundogan has other options on the table.

It’s said Gundogan is wanted by other Premier League clubs, so Barça will have to wait, as there’ll be ‘competition’ from England to get him in the summer.

Since Manchester City are totally focused on their fights for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup titles, the midfielder is not expected to make a decision anytime soon either.
