On June 20th, Het Laatste Nieuws reported KRC Genk have made an offer for Celtic’s Oh Hyeon-gyu, but it was turned down by Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Jupiler Pro League side have made progress in their pursuit of the 23-year-old. On Friday, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri explained that it’s only a matter of time before they can secure the Celtic player’s services.
This is backed up by Saturday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg, who claim Genk have finally made a breakthrough in their negotiations with Celtic over signing the striker.
It’s claimed the South Korea international is keen on leaving the Scottish champions as he wasn’t happy with his life in Glasgow.
The frontman arrived at Celtic Park from South Korean side Suwon Samsung Bluewings in January 2023.
He clocked in 725 minutes from 26 matches under Brendan Rodgers’ orders last season, and this is ‘too few’. Therefore, Oh Hyeon-gyu wants to leave Celtic for the Belgian club this summer.
HBVL say the Celtic player is in Belgium to carry out the transfer formalities, including the medical test, to complete a move to Genk.
