Late last week, a bold story from Germany emerged, with it claimed that a meeting between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund was being planned about a potential swap between the two sides for Jadon Sancho and Donyell Malen.
The England international has lost all hope of playing for the Old Trafford side as long as Erik ten Hag is in charge, and there was an idea that he could be sent back to his former club while his Dutch counterpart would go the other way.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, but the belief in Germany is that Malen would be very open to a move to Manchester United, as explained by Ruhr Nachrichten.
While they believe that a return of Sancho is ‘unlikely’, the idea of Malen leaving is ‘not out of the question’, all depending on how it takes place.
Having joined the SEG Agency (who have met with BVB) after leaving Rafaela Pimenta, the Dortmund forward appears to be wanting a change of scenery, and it’s ‘an open secret’ that those in charge at the Bundesliga club are ‘not satisfied’ with his performances, especially over the past two months.
Malen ‘dreams of England’, having already had a taste of life on these shores from his time in Arsenal’s youth system for two years before heading to the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven.
In short, he would ‘like to play in the Premier League’, and would likely jump at the chance of achieving that at Manchester United should a move present itself, with Dortmund wanting to recoup the €30m they initially spent on him.
The Germans ‘seem willing to talk’, but they need offers, and if SEG bring one forward, it would likely be listened to.
As for the swap between Manchester United and Dortmund, it’s said it ‘currently is not an issue’, meaning it’s unlikely to happen, mostly because of Sancho’s wages and the Red Devils’ desire to get rid of their flop ‘permanently’.
