Genk attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi is edging closer towards joining Rangers, if reports coming out of Belgium are to be believed.

Het Laatste Nieuws has an update and their report’s headline reads ‘Hagi to Rangers’.

Within the report, it’s claimed the 21-year-old will play for the Scottish Premiership side until the end of the season. He will join Steven Gerrard’s side on a loan deal and the Scottish club will have an option to make the transfer permanent for €5m.

The Romania international left his native club Viitorul Constanța and signed for the Jupiler Pro League side last summer, but his time in Belgium hasn’t been positive so far.

Even though he’s managed three goals and four assists in 14 league appearances, Hagi didn’t convince manager Felice Mazzu and his successor, Hannes Wolf. The player has struggled to find a place in the starting XI under the latter’s guidance.

With Hagi moving to Ibrox on deadline day, he will be hoping to featuring regularly for Rangers in the second half of this season.
