Argentine outlet Olé yesterday brought the big story claiming Edinson Cavani has decided to leave Manchester United and sign for Boca Juniors in the summer.
On their website, they had quotes from the player’s entourage which said the striker is close to an agreement to return to South America at the end of the season.
Well, that’s why we expected their morning newspaper to have a big piece on it today. They do, with a two page article, but most of it is exactly the same text that went online on Monday.
There are just a few details they add to the story, and they cover the reasons why Cavani is interested in leaving Old Trafford this year.
Olé says Cavani ‘isn’t very comfortable’ in Manchester. The first reason for it is the accusations of racism following an Instagram post he made to a friend a few months ago. They call it ‘an incomprehensible ignorance of Uruguayan culture’ which resulted in a fine and a three game suspension.
The newspaper adds that the striker has had the lowest scoring rate ever in his career, and blames his injury issues for it, recalling he’s missed five of Manchester United’s last six matches.
It’s once again claimed that by going to Buenos Aires, he’d be closer to ‘the family and the field’ in his home city of Salto, since that’s a five hour drive from Buenos Aires.
That’s pretty much everything Olé has to add, besides showing that their news from yesterday got big coverage from European outlets.
Olé, however, remain quiet regarding the claims from ESPN Uruguay, who last night said Manchester United are working to extend Cavani’s contract and right now it’s more likely he’ll stay at Old Trafford.
