Chelsea have Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmeiri as the three left-backs in their squad, and the latter was expected to leave Stamford Bridge in this window.
However, the Spaniard could now be heading towards the exit door instead after the latest development.
According to Sky Italia, the 29-year-old’s future is away from Chelsea after being involved in a heated argument with manager Frank Lampard during his side’s 3-3 draw against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
He wasn’t included in the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup defeat on Tuesday.
Sky claims the defender’s current situation could ‘facilitate’ his departure from the London club.
He still remains a transfer ‘goal’ for Antonio Conte’s side, even though they have several options in the left-back or left wing-back position. Alonso’s profile is ‘under observation’ at Inter because they can consider making an approach, if there are any departures.
Juve could bet on the Blues left-back, if they manage to offload Mattia De Sciglio.
Gazzetta dello Sport also states Alonso is ‘leaving’ after an argument with Lampard.
Inter have followed the fullback for nine months, and he’s now once again an option for the Nerazzurri in the last week of the window.
The newspaper states the player is on the market after falling out with his manager and can become ‘attractive’ for many clubs, including Inter, because Conte, who managed him at Chelsea, is still a ‘big fan’ of him.
Both reports indicate Alonso has ‘no room’ at Chelsea, and he’s expected to leave the Premier League club in the final days of the window.
Whether the Spaniard will end up at Inter [or Juventus] or not remains to be seen.
