On July 29th, journalist César Luis Merlo reported Hull City are in advanced negotiations with LDU Quito over signing Óscar Zambrano this summer.
The defensive midfielder has made 17 appearances for the Ecuadorian club this year, but his future is likely to be at Hull City.
At the weekend, the 20-year-old scored in his side’s 4-0 win over CD Macará. After the tie, the player told Zapping Sports, relayed by Studio Fútbol, that he’s about to make a switch to England, where Hull City are set to his next destination.
“If I have to leave, I will leave with my head held high, because I gave my all to the team… I would like to thank all the coaching staff for giving me their trust, each one of them contributed their grain of sand,” he said.
“Now I shouldn’t relax, I know it will be a very big jump, I’ll have to get used to everything.”
Journalist Johanna Calderón interviewed Zambrano and she took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim Sunday’s tie against Macará was the Ecuadorian’s last outing with LDU Quito.
She adds Zambrano will ‘immediately travel to England’ once he secures a visa.
César Luis Merlo echoes Calderón’s claim and then adds that LDU Quito will let Zambrano join Hull City on loan with a buying option, which will be made mandatory if certain conditions are met.
There’s no mention of the conditions or the fee needed for the Tigers to make his stay permanent in 2025.
