Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso has insisted he’s not focused on the clause Tottenham have to buy him, leaving the matter to his father and his agent.
AS have an interview with the Betis midfielder today in which he discusses various topics, including that Tottenham clause.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are known to be big admirers of the American midfielder and used negotiations over Giovani Lo Celso last summer to get their foot in the door with him.
As part of the deal taking the Argentine back to the Spanish club, they agreed to have a preferential option on Cardoso worth €25m. They can sign him for that figure in the summer transfer window, although they have to do so in a 10-day period from June 30th.
Either way, all indications have been that they will move for the 23-year-old at some point, with that clause considered cheap given he has an €80m release clause in his current contract.
Such a thing could be something of a distraction for a player, but Cardoso insists he’s not bothered, leaving any issues with that Tottenham clause for his agent and father to deal with.
“I don’t think about it; it’s in the hands of my father and my agent. I try to enjoy myself and to evolve. Things will happen if my performance in the team is good,” he said when asked directly about it.
