Back in March, we covered claims from Italy that Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius had asked former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, who is an agent now, to help him find a club in Italy.
Later that month, the 30-year-old’s partner, Diletta Leotta, said she remains hopeful that he can join Monza or Como 1907 in the summer window.
TuttoMercatoWeb now state Leotta’s wish for the Newcastle player is likely to be fulfilled soon.
The German has made only two appearances since joining the Magpies in 2022 and is set to leave them when his deal expires in June.
It’s claimed he would ‘willingly accept a transfer’ to Italy. After Roma didn’t entertain the option to sign him, he is ‘increasingly closer’ to Como, who have secured promotion to the top flight.
TMW state the parties are optimistic, but the Italian club still have to ‘define the situation’ with the Newcastle stopper, meaning they have sort out the details of the deal.
Como will have to bring in a new goalkeeper, considering Mauro Vigorito and Pierre Bolchini have deals expiring next month. Karius will be available on a free transfer and taking his experience into account, he could be a good option for them.
