AS Monaco’s Gelson Martins has ended up on Nottingham Forest’s agenda for the winter market.
Earlier this month, Nuno Espírito Santo was appointed as the Tricky Trees’ new manager.
According to A Bola, the Portuguese coach has set sights on his compatriot and included the 28-year-old’s name in Nottingham Forest’s target list.
Martins hasn’t yet made an appearance for the Ligue 1 side this season and his deal lasts until 2024. His situation at Monaco may have convinced Nuno Espírito Santo to make an approach for him next month.
It’s explained that the winger is ‘very close to being’ Nuno Espírito Santo’s first signing at Nottingham Forest in January.
Manager Adi Hütter has left Martins out of his plans at Monaco and the report claims the player has received approaches from Russia and the United States.
However, his preference has always been to make a switch to England, where Nottingham Forest have now come forward to sign him.
Maisfutebol say the Portuguese attacker is in ‘advanced negotiations’ to leave Monaco for Nottingham Forest. It’s not mentioned whether the English club are looking to buy him, take him on loan or sign for free.
