Soumaïla Coulibaly is set to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer window and Burnley are said to be his next destination.
That’s at least what L’Equipe are reporting and their title states the defender is ‘close to a loan to Burnley’.
Within the report, it’s said the 19-year-old is in ‘advanced discussions’ with the Clarets for a loan deal.
Burnley were promoted back to the Premier League by winning the Championship last season.
A loan move to Turf Moor would improve the centre-back’s chances of featuring regularly, which he couldn’t do at BVB, partly due to injuries.
The Frenchman left Paris Saint-Germain for the Bundesliga side in 2021. He initially joined their academy before being promoted to their first team last season, where he clocked in 62 minutes from two games. He has featured 25 times for BVB’s second team.
Coulibaly’s contract lasts until 2026 and the newspaper states the option for Vincent Kompany’s side to make his stay permanent in 2024 is still to be defined. It’s said the talks between the two clubs are ongoing on this subject.
