Wanting to get rid of both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri if they can, Chelsea will still need to bring someone in to compete with Ben Chilwell.

The left-back established himself as the sure fire starter under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel, while the other two were left to scrap for minutes throughout the campaign.

If they both go, however, a new body will be needed, which is where AS Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola comes in.

The 28-year-old has surprised greatly with Italy during these Euros, acting as his team’s main threat down the left-hand side, which has caught the eye of Chelsea.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain the Blues have been ‘impressed’ with his performances, and are ‘the more convincing club trying to have him’.

To us, that sounds like they are the favourites and those making the more serious attempts to try and prise him away from their former manager, José Mourinho, who recently took over at the Rome based side.

One to keep an eye on, because it certainly makes sense, as long as Chelsea manage to offload both Palmieri and Alonso first.
