Arkadiusz Milik’s situation will once again be a main theme for the Italian sport media as the January transfer window approaches. With his contract expiring at the end of the current season, Napoli only have the winter market to try and get themselves a transfer fee for the striker.
At one point over the summer it looked like a move to AS Roma was only a matter of time, but the transfer collapsed and that’s left player and club in a difficult situation.
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, quoted by FC Inter News, has said Milik was ‘hoping’ for a move to Everton during the last window. There he would have reunited with manager Carlo Ancelotti and provided another option for the Toffees’ attack.
The Poland international felt the same way about Atletico Madrid and Roma, after he was ‘dumped’ by Juventus. That reference is likely about the Turin club being interested at the start of the market before dropping out and moving for other targets.
Now eyes turn towards the January window, with Everton and the others, along with Inter Milan and Fiorentina, having a chance to secure the signing then. For Ancelotti, a lot may be dependent on what happens with Cenk Tosun.
