Hertha Berlin defender Jordan Torunarigha is ‘hesitant’ about signing a new deal at the club amid interest from West Ham United.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say the Hammers have made an ‘enquiry’ about the 24-year-old after a successful loan spell at KAA Gent last season.

West Ham are continuing to strengthen David Moyes’s squad this summer after a successful campaign last year was somewhat hindered by injuries, particularly in defence.

They have already moved to improve at the back with a €31.5m deal for Stade Rennais defender Nayef Aguerd, but reports have also linked them with a move for Torunarigha.

He’s returned to Hertha Berlin after a loan spell in Belgium during the second half of last season but is in the final year of his deal with the German club, meaning he needs to either renew or be sold this summer.

SportBILD cover that today and say as he’s one of six defenders currently at the club, there is a possibility he will be moved on.

Hertha have offered him an extension, but he is ‘hesitant’ to sign it because of the of the ‘enquiry’ he has received from West Ham.

Torunarigha had initially planned to ‘start anew’ with Hertha after his positive experience in Belgium, but that plan is now ‘shaky’ as he’s not guaranteed a starting place with the Bundesliga side.

In other words, if West Ham are serious about their interest, then there’s a very strong chance they can get their man as he’s considering his future in Germany.
