Ipswich Town have three wins from 22 Premier League games this season and are in the relegation zone.

Kieran McKenna’s side are 18th in the table and level on points [16 points] with 17th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ipswich Town have signed Jaden Philogene and Ben Godfrey [on loan from Atalanta] in the winter market and are still look at bringing in new faces to avoid relegation.

Foot Mercato claim the Premier League side have their eyes on Lyon’s Saïd Benrahma. He spent more than five years in England at Brentford and West Ham United between 2018 and 2024.

Benrahma joined the French club on loan in the winter 2024 market and they made his stay permanent last summer. The attacking midfielder has managed three goals and six assists from 21 games this season and his profile has ‘seduced’ Ipswich Town.

The Ligue 1 side are going through financial difficulties and have to sell players to raise funds.

Foot Mercato state the 29-year-old’s interested parties are ‘not letting him go’. Therefore, the Algeria international is ‘more than ever the next candidate to leave’ Lyon.

With Ipswich Town in the picture, Lyon’s stance on Benrahma will certainly come as encouragement for them to sign him in January.
