Chelsea cannot make new signings or offer new contracts to their players as it stands, following sanctions on their owner, Roman Abramovich.
The Russian billionaire has confirmed his decision to sell the Blues. Although the current phase is frustrating for their supporters, reports have not stopped people linking players to the west London club.
One such player is AS Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni, who has been named as a target for Chelsea in the summer.
AS on Friday state the midfielder’s great performances have ‘seduced’ big clubs, ‘including Chelsea’ and Real Madrid. These two sides ‘started with an advantage’ to secure the star’s services.
Monaco had valued the player at €60m last September. However, his fine displays for club and country, coupled with interest from other clubs, have seen them raise their demands. The new valuation could be €65m.
The negotiations between the La Liga side and Monaco are ‘fluid’, although the ‘economic agreement has yet to materialise’. Paris Saint-Germain have looked at the 22-year-old, but their priority is to bring in Manchester United’s Paul Pogba on a free transfer.
The Spanish giants have to negotiate a fee with the Ligue 1 side and both parties continue to talk with the aim of finding an agreement in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Premier League, where Thomas Tuchel’s side are named as his suitor, ‘tried to seduce him’.
Tchouaméni’s desire is to join Real Madrid in the summer. He will only consider the option to move to England [Chelsea], if Real Madrid fail to find an agreement with Monaco. This is ‘less and less likely’, considering the progress made in recent weeks by Ancelotti’s side to sign the Frenchman.
To sum it up, Tchouaméni, who has ‘seduced’ Chelsea, has communicated to those closest to him he wants to join Los Blancos in the summer. Los Blancos are keen, and a deal can be sealed if they can close an agreement with Monaco.
