For the past week or so, Bayern Munich were named as the main contender in the race for signing Real Madrid’s Lucas Vázquez.
Sport on Thursday named Chelsea as suitor and explained the Blues want to battle it out with the Bundesliga side for the 29-year-old’s signature.
The west London club’s interest in the Spain international is further backed up by ABC.
Operating as a winger and a right-back this season, the player’s contract runs down in the summer. Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of Vázquez and Los Blancos have made an effort in retaining him by making an offer.
The La Liga side proposed a three-year deal that will see the versatile player take a ten percent reduction on his current €3.5m annual salary. He isn’t willing to accept these conditions and demands an improved deal since it’ll be the last big contract of his career.
According to the report, Vázquez is handling a four-year contract offer that includes a pay rise, from Thomas Tuchel’s side and Bayern.
Real Madrid wanted him to continue at the club, but are aware the offers the wideman has received from Chelsea and the Bundesliga side are ‘better’ than the one they proposed.
Therefore, the Spaniard’s stay at the club seems difficult and a transfer could be on the cards in the summer.
ABC’s report mentions Chelsea, Bayern and Manchester United have made offers, but they don’t specify whether Vázquez has made a decision on which club to sign for next.
