Back in November, Liverpool were seen as a potential destination for Roma’s young goalkeeper Renato Marin.
The 18-year-old was in the middle of a contract dispute with the Italian side and the Reds were seen as a major threat to land him, amidst strong competition from Marseille.
It now seems as if Liverpool have definitely missed out on the teenager.
Calciomercato.it have reported that Marin has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain, who have been pursuing the player’s signature for a year now.
Manager Luis Enrique has been trying to convince Marin about the destination, with the teenager now having agreed to sign a contract worth around €300k to €400k per season.
The outlet also backs up interest from Liverpool, stating that Juventus and Inter Milan were also potential suitors for the Italy U19s talent.
The report indicates that the contract situation with Roma had become rather ugly for Marin, with the Giallorossi said to have become rather annoyed with the behaviour of his entourage. As a result, negotiations over a new deal had become ‘uphill’.
Marin’s current deal in Rome runs out in the summer transfer window and he will now join PSG on a free transfer.
