According to a claim in the Belgian media, Sunderland could have a good chance to sign K.V.C. Westerlo forward Matija Frigan.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move to the Championship side during the last winter transfer window.
Gazet van Antwerpen today report on the latest developments regarding the future of the Croatian attacker, and they say he has a ‘good chance’ of leaving soon.
Whether they get promotion to the Premier League or remain in the Championship, Sunderland will be looking to improve their squad ahead of next season. Frigan has been an option to strengthen in attack but the English club should expect to face competition to sign him.
It’s claimed recently promoted Hamburger SV are also monitoring the situation as they plan for Bundesliga football next season. Both Sunderland and HSV have a ‘good chance’ signing Frigan, with reports Westerlo are looking to cash in on him this summer.
Frigan has made 31 appearances this season, scoring five goals. He’s contracted to the Belgian side until June 2028 after arriving from HNK Rijeka in 2023.
