Flamengo full-back Wesley has become a ‘strong target’ for Liverpool as his star continues to rise at the Brazilian club.
That’s according to UOL, who report that the youngster is ‘going through a very special moment’ and that’s drawn Liverpool to him.
They say that as well as impressing for Flamengo, Brazil manager Dorival Junior is determined to include the right back in his squad for the upcoming games against Colombia and Argentina on March 20th and 25th.
He’s not gone unnoticed by English football after being the target of rejected bids from Bournemouth and Aston Villa last year, he’s now become a ‘strong target’ for Liverpool.
They’ve actually been watching Wesley since last season but have recently decided to make the first informal approaches for him. They’re thinking of a move after the Club World Cup in the summer.
The defender could be a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who appears set to leave on a free transfer in the summer and join Real Madrid.
Flamengo are yet to put an asking price on Wesley but believe that with his current development, a potential call-up to the Brazil squad and his potential he could cost more than €30m. They already turned down €25m from Zenit in January.
The defender has a contract until December 2028 so there is no pressure to sell, but Liverpool are keen and seemingly readying themselves to make a bid.
