Over the summer, there was a lot of talk surrounding Mikel Oyarzabal and a potential move to Manchester City.

The Premier League champions allegedly ‘probed’ for the player in the summer, and were said to be ready to pay his €75m clause, but ultimately decided against it after Bayern Munich didn’t buy Leroy Sané.

The German forward damaged his knee ligaments and will be out for most of the season, yet there is still a possibility the Bundesliga club will come back for another attempt at a later date.

Should that happen, then Oyarzabal once again becomes the centre of attention, as reported by Sport on Monday.

The Spanish outlet claim the Real Sociedad man ‘is of great interest to Txiki Begiristain’ and would be ‘chosen to join the club if Leroy Sané’s exit gets done’.

Sport mention ‘next summer’ as the time when Manchester City would make their move, and that’s when they assume Bayern would get their man too.

We’ll have to wait and see if all this can happen in January, but, regardless, it seems Oyarzabal (who has a €75m release clause) is still very much a target for the Cityzens.
