Multiple players were able to leave Leeds United last year via clauses which had been inserted into contracts to make a move to Elland Road look more attractive.
The worry of potential relegation from the Premier League was soothed by players securing clauses which allowed them to leave, whether on loan or via a permanent deal, should Leeds United be relegated to the Championship.
Rodrigo Moreno was one of those players, and he took off from the Yorkshire club for a totally different experience in Qatar with Al Rayyan.
At the time, multiple reports stated Leeds United would be receiving £3m from the Middle East club.
He signed a three year contract with Al Rayyan, but won’t be staying there for the duration.
Moreno has now joined Al Gharafa on loan until the end of the club’s current season. He’ll share that squad with Joselu, formerly of Stoke City and Real Madrid.
Marca offer no explanation for why he’s making the move between the two Qatari clubs.
