The best (or worst, depending on which way you look at it) transfer sagas often have a social media aspect. A footballer will ‘like’ tweets linking himself to a new club, or engage in some way with the club’s fan base.

Alfonso Pedraza to Leeds United isn’t a typical football saga, in that it looks like it could all be settled in around 24 hours – from start to finish.

Marca have been the latest to back-up that a deal is in place, and they explained Pedraza was heading for Leeds United, after tying up loose ends at parent club Villarreal.

Despite it being a short rumour, Pedraza has obliged with a social media hint, and started following Leeds United’s assistant manager Pep Clotet. For further back-up, Clotet has also started following Pedraza.

All the pieces have fit into place on this very quickly and it looks almost certain that Leeds United fans will have a new signing to celebrate very quickly indeed.
