Former Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson has told the Swedish press the chance to play for a big club like Malmo was a reason for joining the Allsvenskan champions.
The 28 year old has been quite vocal in the Swedish media since his move from Leeds United to Malmo last Saturday, but he doesn’t seem bitter about his experience in England.
Speaking to Svenskafans, Antonsson was asked why he took the decision to join Malmo: “Because Malmo is a fantastic club, and Sweden’s largest. I see great opportunities here and it suits me where I am in my career and what I want to accomplish.”
The forward added about his time in England: “Yes, it’s been a good year, where I have developed both as a human and a player. I learned stuff there that I think I can be greatly beneficial to me.”
It’s been reported in Sweden the attacker has signed a three year contract with Malmo for an undisclosed transfer fee.
In his debut season he played just a handful of games and was kept out of the team due to the form of former Leeds United forward Chris Wood.
Antonsson was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers last season, but it always seemed he was surplus to requirements when he returned to Leeds United this summer.
