Portuguese newspaper Record sounds pretty excited to announce Gonçalo Cardoso’s transfer to West Ham United on Monday.
The outlet says the 18-year-old defender is moving to the Hammers in a €3m deal, and that money will mean a lot for his club Boavista.
Another reason for the excitement is the fact that Cardoso was supposed to be an addition to West Ham’s academy, but things will happen a little faster for him.
Scouts from the English side went to watch him in the U18 Euros in Armenia, and were so impressed they are sending him straight to the first team.
Now Record says Gonçalo Cardoso is flying to London today, and should soon be available for Manuel Pellegrini.
The player came close on signing for Brugge, and was also linked to the likes of Benfica and Parma.
We all know that if the Eagles had signed him, he would be costing ten times more next year, so the Hammers probably did well in winning this competition.
