After years of struggles at Leicester City, mixed with a couple of loans at Newcastle and Fenerbahce, Islam Slimani might have finally found himself the right club.

The forward, who is currently at Monaco in Ligue 1 on a temporary basis, has kicked off life in the principality in the best of fashions.

Already scoring on his debut against Nîmes Olympique, the Algeria international continued his solid start with a brace against Strasbourg at the weekend in a 2-2 draw.

His great performance earned him a spot in L’Equipe’s Ligue 1 team of the week, giving him an 8/10 for his two goals, seven shots (four of which were on target) and touching the ball 62 times, which was more than anyone else on the team.

Monaco’s next game will be against Marseille, who have won their last two games 2-1 against Nice and 1-0 against Saint-Étienne.

Slimani’s loan deal from Leicester to the principality club does have an option to buy, and if he can keep his early performances going, then there is no reason why they wouldn’t trigger it.
