Samu Omorodion left Atlético Madrid for FC Porto, after a failed move to Chelsea in the summer window.
The La Liga side signed Conor Gallagher from Chelsea last month. They wanted to send the striker in the opposite direction, and all parties had come to an agreement.
Omorodion had even travelled to London to carry out medical tests with Chelsea and other formalities. The deal didn’t take shape in the end, after the Blues decided not to sign him.
Friday’s edition of Sport claims Chelsea’s rejection was frustrating for the 20-year-old. It put his future in doubt, before the Portuguese club opened their doors for him.
The Spain U23 international’s decision to join the Dragons has paid off so far. He has four goals from four games, including one in the Champions League defeat to Bodø/Glimt.
Omorodion scored the winner in Porto’s 2-1 win over Farense and a brace in their 3-0 win over Vitória Guimarães in the league.
Taking his performances into account, Sport say he ‘finally sees light’ at Porto. The player has clearly put the Chelsea disappointment behind him and is now enjoy life in Portugal.
