Following recent reports from Brazil saying Flamengo are interested in signing Lucas Moura from Tottenham Hotspur, journalist Jorge Nicola now brings his take on the situation.

It turns out that before even speaking of the attacker’s potential move to the Rio de Janeiro side, the reporter basically makes it clear that the player is not staying at Spurs.

Nicola claims that Moura is having his ‘final weeks’ at Tottenham. It’s said his contract expires at the end of the season, and even though Spurs could extend that for a year, that ‘doesn’t seem to be the case’, given the little playing time he’s getting at the club.

According to the report, the 31-year-old considers a return to Brazil. However, he considers himself still young, and in case an offer from a ‘big’ club in Europe shows up, then he’d rather stay there.

Speaking to Nicola, Moura’s agent Junior Pedroso claimed ‘there was never contact’ with Flamengo. So the journalist claims there should be ‘absolutely nothing’ between the player and the Rio de Janeiro club.

Reports from Brazil continue to disagree whether Moura’s contract with Tottenham expires in 2023 or 2024, but with Nicola having direct contact with his agent, it really seems like it does come to an end next year, with the club option for an extension.
