Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina has spoken to the Turkish media as his new club close in on a league and cup double.
The Gabon international only signed for the Super Lig leaders from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the last transfer window, following his disciplinary problems with the Premier League club.
Fotomac have covered comments Lemina has made ahead of Wednesday’s Turkish Cup final between Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, when he was asked about his short time with the club.
Lemina said since his arrival in Istanbul the Cimbom fans have backed him and the chance to make history with the club was a reason he returned.
“The fans were very supportive of me when I first arrived. They were supportive even before they came. Thank you for that. Galatasaray is making history right now. So, I wanted to go back and take part in this history,” said the former Wolves player.
Towards the end of his time with Wolves, the central midfielder had his struggles, especially under former manager Gary O’Neil. Subsequently he retuned to Galatasaray after his initial loan spell with them during the 2019/20 season.
The 31-year-old now has the chance to collect a league and cup medal this week, just months after signing for the club.
Lemina has made 11 appearance and scored one goal since he signed for Gala in January.
