German side Schalke are increasingly convinced they will not be selling Ozan Kabak to Norwich City on a permanent basis.
That’s according to Der Westen, who say the Bundesliga side believe ‘that could be it’ for their hopes of getting rid of the Turkish star on a permanent basis.
They explain that the club loaned out the likes of Amine Harit, Rabbi Matondo and Kabak in the summer in the hope that they could get rid of them on a permanent basis should they be successful during those loan spells.
However, it is becoming ‘increasingly apparent’ that their plans will come to nothing, particularly with Kabak at Norwich.
He’s been in the starting eleven of late but is by no means a regular or key player. Indeed, when he has been in the team, he’s often underperformed.
Indeed, in their last game, they ‘experienced a fiasco’ as they gave up a last-minute goal to lose to relegation rivals Leeds, a ‘heavy blow’ for their hopes of staying up and Schalke’s chances of getting money for Kabak.
That’s because both clubs have included an ‘obligation to buy’ in the loan agreement, but that only applies if Norwich remain in the Premier League.
Norwich’s hopes of doing so are ‘fading’ though, and it seems likely that Kabak will return to Gelsenkirchen in the summer, where Schalke will have to find another buyer as their plan with Norwich has seemingly failed.
