Wilson Isidor is expected to arrive as a new Sunderland signing this week, with the move likely to be on the basis of a loan with a purchase option, reports Russia’s SportExpress.
The 23-year-old currently plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg, having signed for them from Lokomotiv Moscow where he had a good goalscoring record.
That hasn’t been the case so much at Zenit, and will partly be the reason behind his impending exit.
Zenit chairman Alexander Medvedev is quoted as saying: “Wilson Isidor on his way to Sunderland.”
Of course, if this means that Sunderland have moved on from Alexandre Mendy, then it’s not difficult to feel sorry for the SM Caen player.
We covered reports earlier today which again carried quotes from the Caen striker’s representative insisting that the striker still wants the Black Cats, and is not considering anyone else for now.
Wilson Isidor can play as a striker, but doesn’t always, given he’s able to play on both wings. His goalscoring record hasn’t been great since he moved to Zenit so perhaps it’s a case of him being in addition to Mendy.
